and rings and tiaras and menus, oh my
Gosh. If you don’t like wedding planning, don’t read this. It’s getting kinda heavy.
Wednesday, I met with mom and dad to talk about menus and flowers and guest lists and officiants and djs and I don’t remember what all else. I called my Aunt Elaine, who said she wants to help with the flowers.
Thursday, I went and bought Joey’s ring and went to Publix in Canton to order the cake. I drove by a couple cabins we were thinking about. I met with Tim the wedding coordinator at the lodge to select a menu and talk about other details. He suggested a nearby state park for a cheaper option for the rehearsal dinner. It’s about 5 minutes away so I drove over there and checked it out; looked promising. I’ve been trying to reserve the pavilion today, but the website is down. Bummer.
Friday, I emailed the lady about the cabin I liked and got ready to drive down to Warner Robins. I stopped in McDonough to talk to my aunt about flowers. It was good to see her, and we got some things sorted out. In Warner Robins, I went to Amy’s house and saw Ivy and Dylan and then to Jackie’s house where we had hamburgers and went to the park and then to get ice cream and then to office depot to get pens to address the invitations. Jackie and Greg helped me fold them and I did some addressing.
Saturday, we went to Jackie’s hairdresser and she showed Jackie and Danyelle how to do my hair. Jackie videotaped it. Aidan was a princess with a tiara. That was pretty fun times. We went back to Jackie’s and she organized my wedding folder. Tried to anyway, it’s sorta beyond help. We went to Danyelle’s for some swimming and then on to Ingleside Village Pizza in Macon for her 4th 32nd birthday party. Woot.
We went back to her house where we ate cake and stuff, and then she helped me address invitations. I don’t know how many we did, but I like to say about half.
Sunday I stopped by Tyson and Jehan’s new place in Macon on my way up to Atlanta. They have a cute little house, and we walked over to the school where Tyson teaches, Stratford Academy. They had some possible resources as far as an officiant that could work out. They made me lunch, very tasty. Joey’s aunt Joyce called to ask how I would like the ring pillows that she is going to make for us; it was nice to talk to her. I drove back to Atlanta and stopped by Old Navy and Target and then to the kid’s house that I tutor for the PSAT. I remembered that he plays the violin, and he might be able to do the wedding or direct me to someone else. I came home and talked to Joey’s mom on the phone for a while and then Joey came home. We were so glad to see each other but managed to get into an argument in short order anyway
We got mad skills.
This morning before work I tried to put together a map card for the invites. I’m about halfway there, I guess. Hopefully another morning this week I’ll be able to take them to Kinko’s or somewhere and get them printed. I’m about to go get some more stamps on my lunch. Joey’s mom was so sweet to get us some, and thank goodness, cause it turns out it’s gonna take a lot. The invites are overweight, it seems, and require 60 cent stamps. But we will definitely need the whole roll that she got us for the response cards.
Phew. So there’s the update.
