wedding eve

Two years ago this exact day we were standing on top of a beautiful mountain with some of our friends preparing for one of the most special days of our life. The day was quite nice, starting with a day in Ellijay, followed by our rehearsal and then our rehearsal dinner at a little church in downtown Ellijay.

Pictures from wedding and honeymoon

Pictures from our Wedding that Holly took and also the ones from our honeymoon are now up over at kellyandjoey.com. The direct link to the gallery is here

For those that don’t know we started out our post wedding ceremonies on a cruise to the Western Caribbean, making stops at Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, and finally Belize.

After that we hadn’t had enough of each other so we left out and went to Montreal. We had a blast.

the honeymoon is over and we are back, settling in quite nicely. pictures will randomly be appearing throughout the next week or so and probably even after that.

Thanks to our brother in law (yes I can call him that now), Greg, for taking pictures and uploading them for all to see. I have other pictures that I will be uploading very soon from the wedding (thanks Holly) and also pictures from our trips around North Georgia, Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, Belize and Montreal. (whew)

Greg’s uploaded pictures are located here

Kelly The honeymoon(s) were great and I am very lucky to have a caring, spirited, intelligent wife to keep me on my toes. I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you and can’t wait to create many memories that we can share with others and reflect back upon. I love you dearly and am always here with and for you.

Time flies.

(french provincial) tropical shower

Oh, what a great day. A girl only gets so many showers in her life. It’s like a birthday party squared. Today was my first shower, thrown by three of my favorite people in the world….my sisters Jackie, Danyelle, and Amy.

We started the day early at the Flying Biscuit, which was yummy. Then we went to the Perimeter area, where some of us went to the mall and others branched out the Container Store. Amy and I got sidetracked in the lingerie section and then lost Danyelle, so we ran around the mall looking for her for an hour or so. We found her and then played with jewelry and Amy found some super cute girly shoes.

On to La Madeleine to get ready for the shower. Jackie especially worked really hard on the preparations, but things were a little bumpy. The air conditioner was somewhat…okay, entirely……broken. So the shower took on an unexpected tropical theme :) Then they sorta forgot about the food Jackie had spent God knows how long picking out. And also about the room we reserved. It all turned out so well anyway, though. My aunt Elaine sent a corsage and beautiful flower arrangement, and Joey’s mom and Aunt Joyce brought balloons and more flowers. Aunt Joyce also brought the ring pillows she made (perfect!) and baskets for the bubbles and scrolls. She does beautiful work, and I was so pleased and touched that she wanted to help.

I learned to embrace being shiny and hot, and had a great time. Joey and I are lucky to have such fabulous family and friends. Joey showed up early to bring some fans because of the aformentioned broken air conditioner, and then came back a little later just to be cute. He’s really good at that. Also hauling gifts to cars.

I am so thankful to everyone that came, and then brought presents, too! Just coming would have been plenty. Thanks Jackie, Danyelle, Amy, Mom, Mom, Aunt Joyce, Aunt Elaine, Nanny, June, Priscilla, Melanie, Becky, Kristina, Jehan, Tyson, Greg, and Benjamin for making it a great day. It was so good to see you all, and meant a lot for you to take time to come and show me and Joey how much you care. And thanks for the presents :)

danyellewon: do we have an appt. for playing with hair?
kellycolson: yeah
kellycolson: i got all saturday blocked off for all things girly
danyellewon: ok great
kellycolson: i don’t like how you can only pick what’s in the wedding section at macy’s
kellycolson: i been through it all like 8 times
kellycolson: scouring now for more things
danyellewon: only pick in wedding section, whatcha mean?
kellycolson: you can’t just add anything at macy’s
kellycolson: has to be in the registry section
danyellewon: rip off!
kellycolson: the injustice!
kellycolson: i’ll just add this here $250 shrimp and sauce bowl
danyellewon: oh ok, sure, whynot
kellycolson: what doing.
danyellewon: nuttin
kellycolson: perhaps a shrimp and dumpling server
danyellewon: what. the hell. are you talking. about.
kellycolson: no time for nonsense! but you said you were doing nothing.
kellycolson: so i assumed you to be open for nonsense.
danyellewon: shrimp and dumpling. shrimp and sauce. let’s go over this: you don’t eat shrimp. it makes you barf.
kellycolson: that’s what it’s come down to.
kellycolson: there are only accessories to barfing remaining
danyellewon: lol
danyellewon: i just don’t understand - are you adding to your registry? and if so, why?
kellycolson: a. i’m bored and i’m not going to work?!
kellycolson: b. there are not enough items due to some things being unavailable in store (or online) and whatever
kellycolson: c. i don’t want people to go the store thinking they’re going to get it all taken care of and then can’t get it taken care of
kellycolson: so i’m carefully researching the best shrimp and biscuit platters.
danyellewon: don’t make me spew
kellycolson: d. it seems like a perfect way to annoy you
danyellewon: my lunch
kellycolson: e. which is not boring.
danyellewon: f. you
kellycolson: LOL
kellycolson: that was perfect
danyellewon: ooh left me wide open on that one
kellycolson: some wait their entire IM lives for such an opportunity
danyellewon: yes, it should be memorialized insome way
kellycolson: oh yes and it will be

yeah i forgot to publish this one i guess

thought i did……oh well. from 9/19

We now have everything we absolutely must have to get married: a date, a place, and somebody to marry us. My friend from high school who is now a pastor in North Carolina (and soon to be Dr. Michael Chiavone) is going to perform the ceremony. Joey and are very excited to have somebody that knows at least one of us and someone we can look to for spiritual guidance.

Also, reports of invitations arriving are trickling in. Not to mention, www.kellyandjoey.com is up and running now. Joey did a fantastic job getting the website together, and I love it.
Just a brief update today.

the story of the invitations

so yesterday we took the invitations to the post office. YAY!

heidi could have cared less about the invitations…

I took way too long to get moving and we didn’t get to drop them off at the Austell post office because we were five minutes late. We ended up driving back to the post office that is pretty close to our house (Mableton) instead.

driving

During our drive a horrible bug appeared and really scared Kelly…

I managed to capture the bug and protect it from killing everyone…

kelly was relieved that I had saved her life

well heidi punched me in the head and then took it and ate it….

THE END.

calming down

We’ve been working hard on getting addresses and invitations together (to go out on Saturday!), and in the meantime, lots of other good stuff is happening.

I have been talking to my friend from high school, Michael, about the possibility of him marrying us. To tell the truth, I’m very hopeful that it will work, but it might not. That would be a little disappointing, but okay. There are other options, just none as meaningful.

Also, our friend Scott has offered to film our wedding if we need someone and if he can make it (he thinks he can). The current status of videography is nil, so anything there is an improvement.

Joey got a promotion today! He’s not sure what that means in terms of his job functions and if/how they will change, but I’m very glad for him and proud of him in any case.

A package came in the mail today, Joey tells me. I won’t say what it is, but it’s very important and it goes on my head, and I’m pretty excited about having it. Everything is really falling into place, and I’m less stressed and more excited now.
