in which i invited us on another family’s vacation
i’m desperately trying to catch up on all the reality tv i missed while taking db on his first beach trip. trust me, i have earned it. we had a great time in sunny perdido key, fl (which means lost key. . . very appropriate, considering how many times a day i lose my keys).
here we all are minus bert, who was off fishing and trying to win a million dollars. if you look really hard, you might can find him in these pictures.
if you know me, you know that i am not afraid to invite myself to whatever you have. and in the scarbroughs’ case, this time, it was their vacation. but really, i think that since she and her family left us all alone on this street when they moved away to tennessee (practically) a year ago, it’s the least they could do. and though i did invite me and my two-year-old (and trust me, he is now two, if not quite yet chronologically) on another family’s vacation, i brought with me my eternally sunny disposition, enormous chocolate chip cookies, and a sweaty wad of cash. i figured anytime db threw a hard and pointy toy at sally from the backseat or loudly staged a protest from his high chair at a restaurant, i could just shove a cookie or a twenty at her and it would be like that one gun in men in black that they would shoot people with and they would forget everything in the last few minutes. maybe she’ll leave her first comment ever and let y’all know how that worked. she told me she prefers to just look at the pictures, generally, so could be she’s not reading this at all. in which case i’m safe saying that she is a raging tanorexic, but i love her anyway. because tanorexic though she is, she would use her mighty gym muscles to put up the beach umbrella for me, just so danny and i could stay casper/lily/fishbelly white. can’t wait til next year, sally! (unless you plan us another vacation before then, of course.)

This is the 2nd time today I have heard the word “tanorexic”, a word I was not familiar with before today.

Thanks for outting me…lol…like people couldn’t tell about my “disease” from the pictures. Anyway, you will always be welcome on any vaca of ours (as long as you bring the sunny dispo, cookies, sweaty cash, and db of course…no matter what age). And it’s a testament to our friendship that we did not have to break up after our first trip together. Look foward to many more in the years to come, my friend.

see, and y’all thought i was making sally up, and paying a model to be in pictures with me, dintcha? i guess in theory i could have paid somebody to leave the comment, too. or made it myself. there’s just no way to know nothin no more.

But here’s the deal…
You have a standing invite to our little neck of the woods/mountains and for the life of me I can’t determine why you and Danny haven’t shown up on our doorstep. I’m all, WHATEVER. We’ve only been friends 15+ years, not counting that one long break where we had to find and lose and find and lose and find ourselves again…and then we found each other again. Good times.
I couldn’t be friends with Sally. She is far too pretty. Intimidating. Who can handle that?

Can’t wait to get down to the beach again…you’re making me jealous. And you’re welcome in Montgomery anytime. Well, within the next eleven month anyway. Lots of history around here. And the beach is only two hours away.

Looks like you guys had fun! I say if a good friend moves out of the neighborhood leaving you alone, they lose all rights to a private vacation. It should be understood that you will attend all such outings!
