The wedding blog

I decided to start a weblog of the wedding planning. Just so people can keep up with what’s going on, if they are so inclined. I’m going to put it up at easycheese right now, but it will probably be moved to kellyandjoey soon.

This week, I did a lot with lists. Lists of gifts we registered at Macy’s on Sunday, lists of other places to register, lists of guests for the wedding, and a list of addresses for the shower. Right, the shower. At least one of my sisters, I know, is throwing me a shower (Very nice of them for such a tight schedule!). I imagine it is or will be a group effort, but I’ve only really talked to Jackie about it. She’s the one to whom I had to turn in my list of addresses.

After updating my Yahoo address book with all of the addresses that I could get my hands on for our guest list (and getting “my” people mostly squared away), I handed over a list to Joey of people for whom he needs to get addresses (and last names and childrens’ names). He’s glad to help, plus very cute.

The invitations should arrive next week; I’m not sure when. Hopefully we’ll have at least a week to get them assembled and addressed and mailed. Also by that time we’ll need to have a directions card created and reproduced, probably at Kinko’s or somewhere like that.

Operation bridesmaid dresses update: this morning will be the third excursion for Danyelle and Jackie, and the second for mom. Amy had to work today (me too!). Last I heard, it sounded like they had an option that looks pretty good. On my way into work, I went to Macy’s and secured a replacement backup solution (long story) in case it doesn’t work out at David’s today. It’s a good thing I don’t care what color the dresses are, cause so far there are not any colors that have not been seriously considered, just because they were there and available for purchase. Besides maybe yellow.

Last night I was talking to Joey and he said he didn’t feel entirely involved in the whole process, and so whenever I ask for his input, he feels like he’s jumping into a rapids. He didn’t really say that exactly but I think he might would agree with that assessment. So, I happily obliged and had him help me look for a cabin for us to stay in and then he sat with me while I waded through a great mountain of paperwork from Cohutta Lodge, the photographer, and I don’t even know what all else. I think he feels involved now, let’s say.

Today, I will attempt to start registries at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond. That’s pretty fun, as wedding planning tasks go. I think I’ll also work on the directions for the invitations.
